Aisha Classic Organization is Burundi's leading women-centered NGO — supporting widows, single mothers, survivors of domestic violence, and youth through mental health care, legal empowerment, and economic independence.
Who We Are
Founded by the Mukunzi family in Bujumbura, Aisha Classic Organization was born from a simple but powerful belief: that every woman deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to rebuild her life.
We serve widows whose in-laws have taken their homes, single mothers struggling to survive, survivors of forced marriage and domestic violence, and young women with no path forward. In a country where these women have had no voice and no formal support, we are the first.
We are also proud to be Burundi's first and only NGO providing dedicated mental health services for trauma survivors — because healing must come before everything else.
What We Do
Every initiative we run is designed to address a gap no one else in Burundi is filling.
Burundi's first NGO-run mental health program for trauma survivors. We serve women living with depression, PTSD, postpartum depression, and anxiety — many of whom had no name for what they were experiencing until they met us.
We stand beside widows stripped of their homes, women escaping forced marriages, and survivors of domestic violence — helping them understand and reclaim their legal rights.
Economic independence is true freedom. We equip women with business skills, financial literacy, and practical tools to build sustainable livelihoods and break cycles of dependency.
Direct food distribution and emergency support to the most vulnerable women and families in our registry — because no one can focus on growth when survival is uncertain.
We invest in young women early — educating them on their rights, their worth, and their potential before circumstances force them into impossible choices.
We host regional conferences and public seminars — bringing together psychologists, counselors, and advocates from across East Africa to break stigma and build knowledge.
Real Impact
At our landmark Mental Health Seminar in Bujumbura, women came forward in tears — not because they were told to, but because for the first time, someone described exactly what they had been silently living with. Depression. Postpartum depression. Trauma. They had no words for it before that day.
We have distributed food to hundreds of vulnerable families, held international conferences drawing representation from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, and built a registry of over 800 women actively seeking support.
This is not charity. This is transformation — one woman at a time.
Our Network
Aisha Classic Organization operates in close partnership with Fasha Burundi, an NGO dedicated to supporting the elderly, disabled, and economically disadvantaged through agricultural and livelihood programs. Together, our organizations form a comprehensive support ecosystem for Burundi's most vulnerable communities.
